Feeding the Beast Collaboration with Alex Killough Color coordinated menu, closed circuit video broadcast, social anxiety. 2007. Alex and I prepared 9 different courses that matched the walls of my apartment, also known as the California Occidental Museum of Art (COMA). The action on the stove was monitored at the other end of the house, in the living room on the television. People watching would simultaneously experience a cooking show and an olfactory sensation that resulted from the smells wafting through the long hallway to their noses. On several occasions, kitchen accidents were prevented by audience members rushing into the kitchen and alerting the cooks to a dangerous situation. All courses were served in dixie cups by the cooks. This slide: Preparing Palak Paneer |
